awakened

Just woke up from a nap - to a class full of people watching me.

Apparently my professor who's teaching in the front of the room announced the fact that I (the TF) was sleeping in the back - so the whole class was watching. Alas.

This is the second time this has happened. (first time freshmen year).

Anyways, something to post =P

lost wallets

"You only mourn for the loss of what you know". - Aldo Leopold

from my friend's new faculty website!

in any case - how true.  Two stories - of how I lost my wallet TWICE, yup, 2 times, in the last 3 days.

I'm sitting in my office - and I get a phone call at 11am from the Center for Jewish Studies. The nice lady on the other end tells me that she has my wallet.  !  Woah... Didn't even know my wallet was missing.  Apparently it fell out of my backpack (time to get a new one) or something, and was laying on the street.  I went and got my wallet and found myself in a semitic museum - with an exhibit on the house of Yahweh. It was really awesome.  They had Psalm 24 written on the wall, which was super awesome as I had just read it randomly that morning.  Good psalm.  Not very stressful - literally lost my wallet and didn't realize it.

At noon, I went on a retreat to Toah Nipi.  Yay.  Fast forward to right after the trip.

I'm sitting in my room, thinking about going to the grocery store (which I still should do), and I realize that my wallet is missing.  I was a bit anxious - granted there really were only two possibilities - I definitely was worried.  In any case, was a bit worried for the night.  Luckily it was in my friend's car (who's phone was off all afternoon).  Still - just cause I knew, it definitely made the situation more stressful.

Yea, knowing and not knowing makes such a difference.

But I was lucky - I got my wallet back fully intact both times =)  yay!

Wow....  I haven't been so worked up in so long....

I'd been smelling something wierd all day in my office.  At first I thought it was me, but it seemed to come and go.

In any case, at the end of the day, I decided to look around the room, and guess what I found on my bookshelf?

A DEAD BIRD.

Ewww..  Yeah, I screamed and got out of here...  Luckily a really nice undergrad in the group was brave and kind enough to take it away and clean up.

But can you imagine... why is there a dead bird inside my office?

roommate

I have been blessed with an awesome roommate.  The original subletter for a room this summer canceled last minute - so I decided to post on the Park Street Bulletin about an opening in our apartment.  This girl, Nicole, replied, and wanted to come - and now here she is.  She's from San Diego, and really felt this call to be in Boston.

She's been quite amazing and it's been really fun having her around.  Today, another roommate left for Mexico and left with just his stuff.  Translated: he left all of his garbage (q-tips, hair, broken ceramic bits, urine, exposed food) all over the floor, kitchen, and bathroom.  So - Nicole and I spent the entire day cleaning.  The place looks much nicer now, especially the bathrooms which Nicole tackled =).

We picked up some new chairs yesterday in a pretty disastrous zipcar experience.  We ran out of time, as usual, but for the first time - someone reserved the car afterwards, so we were charged quite the hefty fine.  On top of that, because we were late and in a hurry - we left our goods by the sidewalk (with Nicole) where one of the items fell over and hit this new-looking mini-van.  Sigh - at least I got to meet our neighbors (who incidentally are from Chicago). Not sure what the outcome of that will be, although it really is just a scratch - they're going to take it in and see.

Random thoughts - but thought I'd share.  I'm not even sure if anyone actually still reads this =P

I just got a phone call from a good friend who shared that she's getting baptized on Sunday.  I am soooo happy for her.  Yay!!  I just wanted to share =)
